Cecilia Sheikh, RN, BSN, MSN, LSSGB, CHFP, CSPO, has been named vice president of surgical operations for Kaleida Health.
Sheikh will oversee the growth and optimization of surgical services across inpatient, outpatient and endoscopy areas at Kaleida Health, with direct responsibility for perioperative and procedural areas at Buffalo General Medical Center/Gates Vascular Institute (BGMC/GVI). Her focus will include refining operational processes, aligning clinical and administrative teams, expanding access to specialized procedures and ensuring that patients receive safe, high-quality care at every stage of their surgical experience. She will also work to standardize best practices across sites, enhance efficiency in surgical scheduling and resource use and support innovation initiatives that strengthen both clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction.
Bringing more than 15 years of executive leadership experience in perioperative services, surgical operations and outpatient care, she most recently served as senior director of operations for Texas Health Resources, where she led enterprise-wide perioperative standardization, expanded specialty surgical services and strengthened academic partnerships. Her prior roles include senior director of surgical services at Corewell Health and administrative leadership positions at Sinai Grace Hospital, Edinburg Regional Medical Center and Henry Ford Hospital.
Sheikh began her nursing career as a registered nurse and holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Michigan and a Master of Science in Nursing with a focus on executive health care administration from Chamberlain University. She is certified in Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, hospital finance and strategic planning.
