For the second year in a row, the Buffalo State Foundation and Buffalo State Athletics partnered to host the annual Golf Classic, which took place August 3 at Pendleton Creek Golf Club in North Tonawanda. The event offered 138 golfers the chance to have a good time while directly contributing to student success. The event was made possible by Gold Sponsors Pepsi, Canal Bank, and Hudson Advisors; and presenting sponsors Corr Distributors, Barnes & Noble, Buffalo Spine & Sports Medicine, Tops Friendly Markets, and Linda Dobmeier.
“We are extremely grateful for the support of so many people to help make our annual Golf Classic a success,” said Jeff Ventura, officer in charge of athletics. “This event serves as an important annual athletics fundraiser, providing critical support that enables us to create a holistic experience for our student-athletes both on and off the field of play.”
In addition to raising funds for athletics programs, the event helped generate critical funds for student scholarships and financial aid.
“Buffalo State is powered by people who believe in students,” said President Jennifer L. Burris, Ph.D., in an address to attendees before the event. “You believe in their potential, invest in their success, and help create opportunities that can truly change the course of a life. Today’s tournament reflects that spirit. Together, we're investing in young people who will become educators, artists, entrepreneurs, scientists, business leaders, public servants—and, of course, champions on and off the field. So while we'll enjoy a great day of golf, today’s real purpose is much bigger. It’s about opening doors, building futures, and ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed.”
