Kevyn Adams was named the fourth general manager of the Buffalo Sabres since Terry and Kim Pegula bought the team in 2011.
Here are the previous three to hold the position:
Darcy Regier: He was the GM when the Pegulas bought the team in 2011, also the final season that the Sabres made the playoffs. Regier had been hired after the 1996-97 season and his teams went to the Stanley Cup final in 1999, won the Presidents Trophy in 2006-07 and made the playoffs eight times. He was fired in November 2013.
Tim Murray: Spent four seasons as the GM, beginning with the 2013-14 season. He signed an extension before the 2016-17 season but was then fired after the season, along with coach Dan Bylsma, after a last-place finish in the Atlantic Division. Murray was the GM during the “tank” season that opened the door for the Sabres to select Jack Eichel at No. 2 overall in 2015. He also was responsible for acquiring Evander Kane and Zack Bogosian from Winnipeg.
Jason Botterill: Spent three season as the GM, and was thought to be safe for a fourth because of the coronavirus-shortened season. Team finished last in the league in 2017-18 and then won the lottery to select Rasmus Dahlin at No. 1 overall. He also signed Jack Eichel to a contract extension and acquired Jeff Skinner in a trade and then signed him to a long-term deal before last season.
