Rowan McGwin, an offensive lineman from Irondequoit High School in Rochester, has verbally committed to join the University at Buffalo football program in the fall of 2021.
McGwin announced his commitment on social media Monday. He is the 17th player to commit to the Bulls' 2021 class, even though the NCAA has extended its recruiting dead period to Aug. 31 because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
McGwin is a 6-foot-6, 280-pound offensive tackle who also plays basketball and lacrosse at Irondequoit. He had offers from multiple FBS and FCS programs, including William & Mary, Bucknell, UMass, Lehigh, Liberty, Monmouth, Akron, Fordham and LIU.
Per NCAA rules, coaches are not allowed to comment on recruits until after they receive a signed national letter of intent. The early signing period for football is scheduled for Dec. 16-18.
