Mass of Christian Burial Monday for Dick Gallagher, WNY high school sports icon

A Mass of Christian Burial for Western New York high school sports icon Dick Gallagher is scheduled for Monday at St. Amelia’s Catholic Church, 210 St. Amelia Drive, Town of Tonawanda. Mass begins at 11:30 a.m. and access will be first-come, first-served. Masks are required and social distancing protocols will be in place.

Gallagher died Monday after a lengthy illness. He was 79.

Gallagher’s primary profession was in social work. He spent 42 years working in the addiction treatment field, with special attention to young people. However, he was equally well-known as an expert devotee of scholastic football and other sports in Western New York.
