The Bills put wide receiver John Brown on injured reserve Saturday with an ankle injury, meaning he will miss a minimum of three games.
The team had already said Brown would not play Sunday after missing the week of practice, and coach Sean McDermott said Friday that he expected an updated next week. Instead, the team decided to move Brown to IR now, so the game against the Chargers could count as one of the missed games.
Brown has had a series of injuries this season, with the latest coming when the ankle was bent under him after he made a catch against Arizona.
He has 29 catches for 386 yards with two touchdowns.
The Bills also placed guard Cody Ford on injured reserve after announcing Friday that he would miss the remainder of the season after suffering a knee injury in practice Wednesday.
Wide receiver Jake Kumerow and linebacker Darron Lee have been elevated from the practice squad for Sunday's game.
