Notre Dame Ohio St Football

Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud, left, and running back TreVeyon Henderson will keep Wisconsin busy on Saturday.

No. 5 Clemson at No. 21 Wake Forest highlights this Saturday's slate, which also features a bonus game.

About a month into the season, there seems to be a bit of separation starting in college football.

No team has set itself apart more than the Georgia Bulldogs. The defending national champions have blown out overmatched foes by an average of 40 points per game, most recently routing South Carolina, 48-7.

Georgia, behind Stetson Bennett, Brock Bowers and a stout defense, looks to be a solid bet to make the College Football Playoff. I see six other teams vying for the final three spots.

Alabama was tested in a road game at Texas, but has otherwise appeared in fine form featuring Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young. Big Ten powers Ohio State and Michigan will eventually slug it out for one slot. Oklahoma and USC will be in the hunt. And Clemson, if quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei stands tall, might be heard from.

There's plenty of football to be played, but these teams look best suited for the playoff bracket.

For now.

FrontPageBets looks behind the numbers for some best bets in Week 4.

Ohio State spread (-18.5) and Over (56.5) vs. Wisconsin

Kickoff: 7:30 p.m.

TV: ABC

The rationale: C.J. Stroud and the Buckeyes have been ramping things up after a slow start in their opening win over Notre Dame. OSU has since averaged 61 points in shellacking Arkansas State and Toledo. Stroud threw for 365 yards and five touchdowns against the Rockets. The Badgers were stunned at home by Washington State, sandwiched around blowout wins over Illinois State and New Mexico State. Their defense will struggle to contain TreVeyon Henderson on the ground and Jaxon Smith-Njigba in the air

The pick: Ohio State, 42-17

Michigan spread (-16.5) and Under (65.5) vs. Maryland

Kickoff: Noon

TV: FOX

The rationale: Michigan has had its way with Colorado State, Hawaii and Connecticut, racking up more than 55 points a game. The QB job belongs to J.J. McCarthy with Cade McNamara shelved by injury. Running back Blake Corum (school record five touchdowns against the Huskies) will torment the Maryland defense early and often. The Terps' offense, behind Taulia Tagovailoa, will find the sledding slow in Ann Arbor.

The pick: Michigan, 38-17
