Winery Music Festival Pairs Beverages and Bands

Wineries offer some of the most idyllic settings for outdoor concerts, combining high-energy fun in picturesque surroundings. Spring Lake Winery in Lockport will once again host their third annual Rock & Reggae Music Festival, Saturday, Aug. 17 from 2-10 p.m.

“It’s a really unique experience,” said owner Tamre Varallo. “Nobody else in this area has a concert in a vineyard.”

Varallo family Vineyards is a 130-acre scenic property where festivalgoers can enjoy Spring Lake wines, local brew and specialty cocktails by the eight-acre lake. Also, guests can explore the spectacular vineyards and walk the wooded nature trails.

The peaceful backdrop gets a boost of excitement when the great lineup of bands hits the stage, opening at 3:30 p.m. with the Tim Britt Band, an energetic dance band influenced by Dave Matthews Band and Mumford & Sons among others. Zeis & The Muckrackers is next on the docket, melding country-folk, rock and funk from 5-6 p.m. Cleveland band Tropidelic follows at 6:30 p.m., bringing their blend of reggae rock, hip-hop and funk back to the festival again this year. Dynamic headliners Manic Focus–who have performed at national amphitheaters like Red Rocks in Colorado and The Gorge in Washington–round out the night with a performance from 8-10 p.m., fusing blues, heavy-hitting bass and electronic dance music.

The laid-back affair will also feature plenty of lawn games, including KanJam, Connect Four and life-sized Jenga. Attendees can also bring their own games and hula hoops, along with lawn chairs and hammocks to relax under the sun and stars.

Music, drinks and games aren’t the only thing on the menu. A bevy of food trucks–including Ms. Judi’s International Cravings, Loose Cannon’s locally sourced fare and Caribbean Flava–will provide sustenance to fuel all the playing and swaying. Local vendors and merch tables will also be part of the eight-hour event, which culminates with a fantastic fireworks finale.

Escape to the lake for this 21+ summer celebration. General admission is just $25 in advance and $30 at the door, with 4-packs available for $90. VIP tickets are $75 and include private tent with full-service bar and VIP parking. Parking only at 1000 Wilson Road, Lockport.

New this year: a $45 coach bus package that includes transportation from and back to one of two bars in Buffalo (Duke’s Bohemian Grove Bar on Allen St. or Bar Della Citta on Hertel), one free drink at starting bar and one free drink at Spring Lake Winery.
