Rock out with grownup fun at the Buffalo Museum of Science

Museums are the perfect place to discover and explore with the family…but sometimes adults just need a little time to themselves. The Science After Hours series at the Buffalo Museum of Science is part of a growing trend of 21-and-over happenings at cultural institutions across Western New York.

Science After Hours: Waves will roll into the Museum on Friday, July 26 from 6-9 p.m., giving guests the chance to hear a great live band, grab a drink, participate in themed activities and check out the four floors of interactive Museum exhibits–sans the pitter patter of little feet.

Local band The Spin Wires will be the highlight of the evening and will bring the house down with their blend of pop punk, new wave and garage rock. The group’s energetic, dance-inducing music includes covers from alternative bands like Walk the Moon, Blink 182, The Killers and 21 Pilots, as well as originals off their recently released and highly regarded studio album, “Designated Distraction.” Their music has also been featured on Showtime’s “Shameless” and CBS’s “Player Style Files.”

You can also run your own experiments with light filters, get hands-on with slinky tests, participate in an experiment involving chocolate and your taste buds, and marvel at the florescent minerals from the Geology Collection.

And you won’t go thirsty or hungry during all the excitement. Enjoy a selection of beer and wine available for purchase and chow down at the Dinosaur Bar-B-Que pop-up cafe on the balcony.

Don’t miss your chance to experience this fun and unique Museum event presented by Transwave. Tickets are just $16 (BMS members receive 10% off) and advance purchase is recommended due to capacity restrictions. Must be 21+ and ID is required at the door.

Visit the Museum’s website for more information and to purchase tickets.
