5 Buffalo Museum of Science events guaranteed to get adults into the holiday spirit

The Buffalo Museum of Science and Tifft Nature Preserve are hosting a series of fun and festive holiday-themed programming geared toward the 18+ and 21+ crowd. From upcycling books into a fabulous wreath to setting up your own dazzling light display, there’s something for every interest this season.

 

Festive Lights with Arduino SciNight Workshop (Ages 18+)

Bring your laptop to this all-skills workshop introducing tinkering and coding for Arduino.

Working from scratch, you'll move from installation to implementation on a project creating colors with LEDs. Each participant will take home an Arduino to continue to develop their skills. Wednesday, Dec. 5, 7-8 p.m., Buffalo Museum of Science. Cost: $15 (BMS members save 10%).

 

Winter Backyard Birds SciNight Workshop (Ages 18+)

Head to Tifft Nature Preserve and get to know your winter backyard birds by learning beginner tips for attracting, photographing and identifying WNY’s feathered residents. Tuesday, Dec. 11, 7-8:30 p.m. Advance registration required. Tifft Nature Preserve. Cost: $12 (BMS members save 10%).

 

Wreathed in Reading SciNight Workshop (Ages 18+)

Create a book wreath for the new year from the pages of yesteryear in this arts and crafts workshop. Browse through a wealth of out-of-date science and cultural texts to roll and build your own unique decoration. All materials provided. Wednesday, Dec. 12, 6:30-7:30 p.m., Buffalo Museum of Science. Cost: $15 (BMS members save 10%).

 

Science After Hours: Home for the Holidays Trivia with Quizmaster Dennis George (Ages 21+)

Wrap up the holidays with family and friends at this edge-of-your-seat event, complete with buzzers, whistles, music, scoreboards and prizes. Grab a drink, play mini games and quizzes throughout the evening, and explore the Museum. Friday, Dec. 28, 6-9 p.m., Buffalo Museum of Science. Cost: $16 per person (beverages separate).

 

THE ART OF THE BRICK Donation Drive

’Tis the season of giving, and the Buffalo Museum of Science hopes to receive LEGO® blocks for the free play area at the upcoming ART OF THE BRICK exhibit, coming to the Museum February 9, 2019! Donate new or gently used LEGO or DUPLOX® bricks and receive a coupon for $1 off admission to THE ART OF THE BRICK, the world’s largest display of LEGO art, presented by M&T Bank. Bricks will be collected in the lobby of the Buffalo Museum of Science, 1020 Humboldt Parkway, Buffalo.
