UB announced May 27 that it had agreed to a contract extension with Alnutt that began May 11 and runs through May 12, 2026.
Alnutt also will have a new title as UB's vice president and director of athletics.
“I have my name attached to Maurice Linguist,” Alnutt said. “And personally, for me as well, I felt that we recruited a new friend, and we’re going to be in here together, forever tied to each other, which is huge.”
Linguist is currently the co-defensive coordinator at Michigan. He replaces Lance Leipold, who left UB last week to become the head coach at Kansas.
“The virus definitely has the ability to dictate our steps,” Niagara athletic director Simon Gray said. “We’ll be monitoring its impact, everywhere, and specifically in our region."
