GROGAN - Lawrence W., Jr. Age 89, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, February 11, 2020, in Dallas, Texas. The son of Lawrence W. Grogan, Sr. and Elsie M. Grogan. He was born in Buffalo, New York on September 23, 1930. He graduated from Canisius High School and Canisus College with a BS in English. Larry served in the Navy during the Korean War. Returning from service, he met the love of his life, Nancy Ransbury. They were married 55 wonderful years until her passing in 2010. Larry started a long career in radio at stations WBEN and WEBR in Buffalo, moving to Indianapolis where he joined The Susquehanna Broadcasting Co. and country station WFMS. He relocated to Arlington, Texas in 1983 and retired as Executive Vice President in Dallas at the age of 70. After retirement, Nancy and Larry enjoyed traveling around the country in their "Silver Bullet" motor home visiting family, friends and favorite historical sights along the way. To enjoy their lifelong high school and college friendships, they purchased a waterfront summer home on the Buffalo River harbor. Larry was a long-time volunteer at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas and taught English as a second language in a church community. He will be lovingly remembered for his mentor-ship, storytelling, love of history, generosity, and sense of humor. Larry is survived by his six children: Timothy and his wife Terri of Highland Village, TX; Susan Yoder and her husband Timothy of Mohnton, PA; Sally Herron and her husband Gregory of Trabuco Canyon, CA; Kitty Pursley and her husband Charles of Cleveland,TX; Michael and his wife Janis of Fort Worth,TX; John and his wife Niki of The Colony, TX. Larry is the adoring grandfather of Benjamin, Kelly, Megan, Madison, Molly, Clay, Jake, Joseph 6 step-grandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, David Ransbury and wife, Karen, along with many nieces and nephews. Last, but not least, he will be missed by his four legged best buddy, Matt. Visitation 3-5 pm on Friday, February 14, 2020, at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home in Dallas. Funeral Mass 2 pm, Saturday, February 15, 2020, at Christ The King Catholic Church in Dallas. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The American Cancer Society or charity of your choice.
