Congregation Shir Shalom in Amherst will mark the retirement of Rabbi Irwin A. Tanenbaum today and Saturday.
Tanenbaum will give his final sermon to the congregation during Shabbat service at 7:30 p.m. today.
A tribute to Tanenbaum, a rabbi for 38 years, including nine in Western New York, will be held Saturday.
Tanenbaum, 66, will become rabbi emeritus of Congregation Shir Shalom.
The congregation was formed in 2012 from the merger of Temple Beth Am and Temple Sinai. Rabbi Alex Lazarus-Klein, who shared rabbinic duties with Tanenbaum, will continue in his role.
