WGR sports talk show host Jeremy White announced on Twitter the death of his mother in a car crash Thursday and linked to a story about the fatal crash on Syracuse.com.

According to Syracuse.com, 70-year-old Marianne White of Auburn died following a crash on Route 318 in Junius in Seneca County. White's vehicle was sideswiped by another vehicle causing her car to swerve into oncoming traffic, according to the Seneca County Sheriff's Office.

According to the article, Kimberly Tompkins, 59, of Maryland Road, Phelps, was driving the vehicle that sideswiped White’s car, deputies said. Angelo Mascioli, 45, of Newark, was driving the car that White’s vehicle crashed into, deputies said.

White and her passenger – Paul Crapo, 72, also of Auburn – were trapped after the crash. Firefighters with the Junius Volunteer Fire Department and the Magee Fire Department freed the pair from the heavily damaged vehicle, deputies said.

White was rushed by North Seneca Ambulance to Geneva General Hospital, where she died.
