Search that turns up cocaine leads to guilty plea

Hayward Tarver, 38, of Buffalo, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge William M. Skretny to possession with intent to distribute 28 grams or more of crack cocaine.  The charges carries a mandatory minimum penalty of five years in prison, a maximum penalty of 40 years, and a $5 million fine.

Buffalo Police and the Drug Enforcement Administration on Sept. 27, 2013 executed a search warrant at Tarver's residence at 66 Connelly Ave., and recovered approximately 166 grams of crack cocaine valued at $6,000, a digital scale, and packaging materials used to distribute the cocaine, officials reported.

Sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 15 before Skretny.
