Buffalo police recovered the body of a white male from the Niagara River on Thursday morning, a department spokesman said.

The Underwater Recovery Team retrieved the body shortly before 7:30 a.m.

The report of a body floating in the water came in about 5:20 a.m., according to Buffalo Police spokesman Michael J. DeGeorge.

The Erie County Medical Examiner's Office will conduct an autopsy to determine cause of death.
