Yeah, we get snow and sometimes a lot of snow, but when it comes to truly treacherous natural disasters, Buffalo's a fairly safe place to be, according to a report by CBS News Money Watch.
Buffalo ranked fourth in the list, behind Syracuse, Cleveland and Akron, Ohio, in the list compiled by Trulia, a real estate research firm based on data from from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, U.S. Forest Service and FEMA's National Flood Insurance Program, CBS said.
"For the four safest cities on Trulia's list, flooding is the greatest risk," CBS said. "Floods can hit any state, but these places just tend to see less of it. That includes Buffalo, although the city hard on the edge of Lake Erie is prone to heavy snow."
The rest of the 10 top list included: the Bethesda-Rockville-Frederick, Md. area, Dayton, Ohio, Allentown, Pa., Chicago, Denver and the Warren-Troy-Farmington Hills, Mich. area.
