John Domres, founder and president of Buffalo Brewing Co., has acquired the former Schreiber Brewing Co. historic building that dates to 1899. He now plans to renovate and reuse it, converting it back into its original purpose, as the new home for his own company – the third local firm to carry that name. In doing so, he also wants to make it a destination for customers and create a new draw to the Broadway-Fillmore neighborhood, which is already home to the Broadway Market and Central Terminal but is also regaining some traction with recent activity. And while he needs much of the large building to grow his business, he also plans to use it to tout Buffalo's brewing heritage, and hopes to add a street-level café and either apartments or other commercial space to the mix.
