Former Buffalo police officer Cedric Holloway announces run for Common Council
Cedric Holloway spent more than 30 years in the Buffalo Police Department and two decades as a youth mentor. But at 57, he's never held a role in government. On Saturday surrounded by friends and supporters, Holloway announced that he will run for the Ellicott District seat on the Buffalo Common Council. The seat is being vacated by Rev. Darius Pridgen, who served the district for 12 years.

Holloway is vying for the city government seat along with Rev. Michael Chapman, the pastor of St. John Baptist Church, and Matt Dearing, a former staff member for New York State Assemblyman Patrick Burke.
Chapman is vying to replace Council President Darius G. Pridgen, who announced he will not seek re-election to the seat he has held for 12 years.
Wingo's decision comes about three weeks after Common Council President Darius G. Pridgen declared he would not seek another term in the Ellicott District.

“After much prayer and reflection, I’m ready for my next, and I don’t know what that next is, but I do believe there is a next for Darius Pridgen to continue to serve people,’ Pridgen said Wednesday afternoon in his Northampton Street home.
