Meet the SPCA's Gina Lattuca

  • 0

Name: Gina Lattuca, 53.

Who she is: Chief communications officer at the SPCA Serving Erie County, where she has worked for 29 years. The 1984 graduate of Maryvale High School earned an English degree with a communications minor from SUNY Fredonia and now serves on its alumni board. She is very involved in her church, the Chapel at CrossPoint, Getzville. ("I'm very passionate about my faith," she said.) She married Joel Lattuca in April.

What she's wearing: Black, faux-leather skirt from Express; bright blue top with front-tie detail from Stein Mart; dress shoes from Marshalls (not the style she wears when she's running around); bracelet from a shop in Crystal Beach, Ont.; earrings from Ten Thousand Villages; Citizen watch she bought on her first-ever cruise last year; rings.

Signature looks: "I like metals and natural materials for jewelry. Also: "On July 21, 1990 (when she began at the SPCA), I said goodbye to 'dry clean only.' I usually have an animal next to me. I have to wear something that the hair brushes off easily."

Listen to Gina Lattuca describe her approach to fashion:

Fashion statement: "When we talk about approach to fashion, I kind of laugh that I'm the subject of this video because for so many years I had trouble with shopping – especially clothes shopping – until I finally started learning as an adult how to shop for my body type. Then the next challenge was, as I age, trying to find clothing that was age-appropriate – and shop in the sections that were appropriate for women my age – but clothes that weren't frumpy. I have to really search for that balance. Sometimes I find myself in the juniors' department looking for something that doesn't make me look like I'm trying to be 25. So that's a little bit of a challenge that I find, but I will say once I put a little bit of time into learning how to shop for my body type and for my height  – which is only 5'-2" – that helped a lot with my fashion sense," she said.

Last purchase: Her last clothing purchase was the dress she wore to her wedding, she said. The floor-length dress ("not a gown") features sparkles on a navy sheath, long sleeves with slits and one side slit.

In the market for: "I love coats. I enjoy shopping for the retro looks that are out now. I still have to try them on; I can't shop online. Shoe shopping is a close second," she said.
