North Park Theatre celebrates the films of '79

Bo Derek turned heads in her first film, the comedy "10."

The North Park Theatre is starting a 40th anniversary celebration of the films of 1979 with a 10.

That's "10" as in the comedy that introduced Bo Derek and her cornrows to the world. The Blake Edwards film, also starring Dudley Moore as a middle-aged man who becomes obsessed with a young bride played by Derek, will be shown at 9:30 p.m. March 1 and 2 at the North Park (1428 Hertel Ave.).

More films will be announced. Here is the rest of the schedule so far:

"The Jerk," March 3 to 5. Steve Martin stars as the title character in this comedy.

"Moonraker," March 8 and 9. Roger Moore as James Bond in outer space.

"Mad Max," March 10 to 12. The original Mel Gibson futuristic thriller.
