Home of the Week: The feel of French country in the suburbs

  • 0

Liz Seefeldt has always loved decorating. In 1990, she received an associate in occupational studies degree from the interior design program at what was then called Bryant & Stratton Business Institute.

While she never did anything with the degree, she always helped friends decorate their homes. A couple years ago she launched a small decorating business in which she specializes in restyling and accessorizing.

She recently shared photos and a description of the Town of Tonawanda home she shares with her husband and their son, 18, and daughter, 19, who is in college.

Here is what she wrote for The Buffalo News "Home of the Week" online feature.

"We moved into our home six years ago. We had long admired the well-kept homes on the quaint, beautiful tree-lined street," she wrote.

"The strictly traditional 1930s era home wasn't my taste. The decorator in me was up to the challenge of turning our house into a home more reflective of my style. I wanted to create a space that exudes warmth and comfort.

"I incorporated a more transitional French country feel in my decor. My affinity for neutrals, textures and patterns added the right amount of contrast and interest to create a cozy and homey space.

"I love that our comfortable home is located just minutes from both vibrant North Buffalo and the conveniences of the northern suburbs," she wrote.

You can follow her on Instagram and Facebook.

Do you love your house enough to show it off? This could be your chance.

The Buffalo News is looking for other beautiful local homes and the stories behind them and their décor. Those chosen will be displayed in a weekly feature at buffalonews.com and could be chosen as Home of the Month in a Sunday edition of The Buffalo News.

If you are interested, tell us about your home in 150 words or less, and email at least 10 images (in .jpg form) of the interior and exterior to homeandstyle@buffnews.com.

It’s OK to separate the images into several emails.

Those chosen for BuffaloNews.com will be contacted by Home and Style Editor Susan Martin. A phone number is helpful.

Single-family homes, condominiums, lofts and apartments are eligible. We will not print your street address, although we do like to include the town or city in which you live.

If you have difficulty submitting images, please email smartin@buffnews.com.
