After more than two decades catering to Buffalo sports fans and athletes in the Southtowns, Laux Sporting Goods has closed its store at the McKinley Mall.

The store's last day was scheduled for Tuesday, but the store's shelves were bare by Monday morning, so the manager closed up shop.

Laux has stores at the Walden Galleria and Boulevard Mall, and has its corporate offices in Amherst.

The sporting goods retailers is the latest store to leave the troubled McKinley Mall. Ulta Beauty recently left the mall in favor of Quaker Crossing in Orchard Park. Bon-Ton, which is currently liquidating and going out of business, will leave 97,204 square feet of empty space at the mall when it closes. Macy's two years ago closed it's department store and a home store at the mall, which were subsequently bought by Benderson Development. Benderson does not yet have plans for the property, which is still vacant.
