A longtime tax attorney at Hodgson Russ LLP has been named as the new chairman of Buffalo's largest law firm, succeeding business litigator and criminal defense attorney Daniel C. Oliverio.

Hodgson Russ said it had selected Mark S. Klein as the firm's titular head under the firm's institutional leadership transition plan. Klein, a 35-year veteran of the firm, represents a wide range of business and individual clients, including Fortune 500 companies and high-net-worth individuals.

He will work with the firm's managing partner, Rick W. Kennedy, to grow its client base, strengthen client relationships, advance the firm's culture and help the community, according to a press release from the firm.

In an email, Klein said he “is excited to continue to distinguish Hodgson Russ as the leading law firm in Buffalo that is committed to helping Western New York prosper.”

Oliverio, meanwhile, will return to his full-time practice, which also includes False Claims Act cases and Surrogate's Court litigation. He will also serve as chairman emeritus.
