Kenmore man charged in theft of school bus batteries

A Kenmore man faces four counts of fourth-degree grand larceny and one count of criminal mischief for the theft of school bus batteries in the City of Tonawanda, police said.

Christopher M. Peacock, 29, was arrested Friday after being picked up by Hamburg police and turned over to City of Tonawanda police officers.

A joint investigation by City of Tonawanda and Lancaster detectives led them to Peacock, according to a release from the City of Tonawanda Police Department.

A total of 62 bus batteries were taken from buses and a storage garage at 233 Fillmore Ave. in late December, police said.

The batteries were valued at $9,300.

Peacock was booked and turned over to Lancaster police on an outstanding warrant in the Town of Lancaster, the department said.
