Kudos to Thurman Thomas, his wife Patti, and their 34 organization. Their efforts to secure personal protection equipment (PPE) for Roswell Park Comprehensive Center is truly commendable. Their efforts in securing food and masks in underserved communities is also praiseworthy. We are fortunate to have them working to support Roswell and our community.
When I read the details of what went into securing PPE for Roswell I was appalled. The CEO of 34 Group had to drive to Ohio and New Jersey to chase down supplies. When he got to his destinations, he found out the PPE had been sold to a higher bidder.
To me this means the system is broken. I Ride for Roswell every year. I hate to think that some of the dollars that my donors entrusted to me are going to parasitic profiteering thieves. The Trump administration should be using the emergency powers act to secure food and PPE. It should be provided at cost or free to the people who need it.
