Reported 2.3 magnitude earthquake felt in Hamburg

An apparent earthquake was felt south of Buffalo on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, it was an apparent 2.3 magnitude earthquake that was felt by residents in Hamburg, many of whom called the Town of Hamburg Police Department to report a loud boom and the feeling of a rumble Tuesday.

However, a dispatcher with the police department said there were no reports of an explosion or fire in the town.

Multiple people said they felt the ground shake in Hamburg and Lackawanna.
