About half of public tennis courts to open Friday in Buffalo parks

Tennis courts in Buffalo parks will open Friday with safe physical distancing measures in place.

In coordination with Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy, 20 of the 41 tennis courts in the city will be open for public use, including:

• JFK (Pine/Clinton Street) – 2 of 4 courts open

• Houghton (Spann/Casimir Street) – 1 court open

• McCarthy (East Amherst entrance) – 1 of 2 courts open

• Roosevelt (foot of Roosevelt Avenue) – 1 court open

• Hennepin (Hennepin/Greene Street) – 2 of 4 courts open

• Delaware (Police Radio Tower) – 2 of 5 courts open

• Delaware (near Colvin Entrance) – 2 of 4 courts open

• Delaware (McMillan/Nottingham) – 3 of 8 courts open

• Riverside (Tonawanda Street) – 1 of 2 courts open

• MLK (near Greenhouse) – 2 of 4 courts open

• Front (Busti Avenue) – 1 of 2 courts open

• Cazenovia (Warren Spahn Way) – 2 of 4 courts open

The courts are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The city will monitor use and make changes as necessary, said Mayor Byron W. Brown Thursday in a written statement updating the city's response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
