Cobblestone Live joins growing list of canceled summer events

The popular summer event Cobblestone Live Music & Arts Festival has been canceled for 2020. The event was planned for July 31 and Aug. 1 in downtown Buffalo's Cobblestone District.

“Cobblestone Live is about connection – about dancing in the street – and there was really no way to safely do that this year,” Josh Holtzman, Cobblestone Live festival director, said in a statement.

“The magic of this festival is that people can come and go as they please, hang out outside, duck into the bars when they feel like it, bring their kids, bring their pets, sit on curbs holding hands, get their faces painted, participate in food eating contests, and much more – all while three to four musical performances happen simultaneously around them across multiple city blocks. It only works if people feel free and safe, so after careful consideration we’ve decided to focus."

Refunds for presale ticket packages will be issued over the next few days. If you purchased a ticket at Buffalo Iron Works, email josh@buffaloironworks.com for instructions. Other refund questions can be emailed to cobblestonelive@gmail.com.

At past events, Cobblestone Live has featured outdoor stages on Illinois and Columbia streets, plus an indoor stage at Buffalo Iron Works and a stage/lounge inside Lockhouse Distillery & Bar.

Cobblestone Live is part of a growing list of annual summer event cancellations due to the Covid-19 pandemic including the Allentown Art Festival, Burgerfest, Canalfest, Juneteeth and Queen of Heaven Carnival.
