Niagara County's death toll rises to 17

The number of Covid-19-related deaths in Niagara County has risen by one, county officials reported Tuesday.

A 58-year-old woman with underlying health conditions is the latest fatality in the county from the outbreak, officials said in a news release.

Her death brings the county's death toll to 17. The county has reported new deaths from Covid-19 each of the last three days.

The county on Tuesday also reported eight new confirmed Covid-19 cases, bringing the total for the pandemic to 287 cases.

There are 127 people in isolation, 18 of whom are hospitalized. One-hundred forty-three people in the county have recovered from the illness, the county reported.

The municipalities with the largest numbers of confirmed cases are Niagara Falls (81), Wheatfield (42) and North Tonawanda (33), according to the Niagara County Department of Health's Covid-19 case map.
