Cattaraugus County on Tuesday reported its first Covid-19-related death of the pandemic.
County officials identified the man who died as a 77-year-old with "extensive" underlying health conditions, the Cattaraugus County Health Department said in a news release.
The man "developed respiratory failure and was unable to overcome the extensive complications despite aggressive medical treatment," the department said.
The death was initially reported on the county's Covid-19 case map.
Cattaraugus County had been the only county among the eight in Western New York yet to report a death.
Thirty cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed so far in the county. Nineteen people diagnosed with the illness have recovered, according to the county.
