Poloncarz trolls make much 'hairdo' about nothing

Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz received some criticism this week from social media watchdogs proclaiming that, due to the impeccable appearance of the "executive coiffure," surely Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s ban on barber shops during the Covid-19 crisis had been violated.

Apparently, these trolls were unfamiliar with the wonders of modern hair product.

Poloncarz responded with humor, taking to Twitter with a photo of his hairdo prior to his morning hairspray routine.

“To those who keep saying I've had a haircut since @NYGovCuomo closed barber shops, here is what my hair looks like before styling and a ton of hairspray. No cut, but one good thing is I'm ready to join a Beatles cover band,” the county executive wrote.

Then, in a bid to out-troll the trolls, Poloncarz initiated a Twitter poll, asking his followers to vote on which member of the Beatles his pre-product “mop-top” most resembled.

The results? By a margin of 5%, the public decided a “bed-headed” Poloncarz’s Fab doppelganger is none other than Ringo Starr.

Poloncarz followed up with a photo of his hairdo in full-on “business mode,” sporting the seemingly immovable coiffure we are familiar with from his authoritative daily updates on the coronavirus crisis in our community.

One Twitter respondent suggested a possible reason behind the trolling.

“They mad they don’t know how to maintain they hair with products,” wrote @Sexylex1984.

“You nailed it!” Poloncarz responded.

A new Twitter handle has emerged, dubbed, hilariously, @MarkPoloncarzHair.

Poloncarz, who has occasionally popped up on YouTube with a guitar in hand, also posted a video playing the Beatles' "I'll Follow the Sun" on Thursday.
