Orleans County reports first Covid-19 death

Orleans County has registered its first Covid-19-related death, the Genesee and Orleans County Health Departments announced Thursday.

The person who died was older than 65 and had been under mandatory isolation, the health departments said in a news release.

No further information about the person was released.

As of Wednesday, there had been 34 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Orleans County, officials have said.

As of early Thursday afternoon, there have been 123 Covid-19-related deaths in Western New York during the pandemic. Cattaraugus County is the only Western New York county without a confirmed Covid death, as of Thursday morning.
