Howard Hanna agents eligible for steady paycheck instead of commission

The region's largest real estate brokerage firm is trying to provide a more stable income source for its agents, who are normally independent contractors that rely on sales commissions but are restricted from much of their normal activities because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Howard Hanna Real Estate Services has extended its "Income Advantage" program that provides a stable monthly paycheck to agents, based on how much they earned in commissions during the previous year. The Pittsburgh-based firm extended the deadline for enrolling for more than a month to give agents impacted by stay-at-home orders more time to sign up.

The company also provides funds toward an agent's car through its Hannamobile program, and offers profit-sharing in some markets.
