Harassment complaints at Chestnut Ridge Park lead to DWI arrest

A 60-year-old Orchard Park man accused of harassing people at Chestnut Ridge Park was arrested Friday on a felony charge of driving while intoxicated, the Erie County Sheriff's Office reported.

Deputies responded at about 2:30 p.m. Friday to complaints that a man was driving through the park and harassing parkgoers.

Deputies tracked down and stopped the vehicle. They say they noticed a strong smell of alcohol coming from the driver and signs of impairment.

Jeffrey Courteau failed several standard field sobriety tests and was arrested, the Sheriff's Office said.

He is charged with felony DWI because he has a prior DWI conviction within the past 10 years.

Courteau also faces a charge of aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, because his driver's license was revoked, and a traffic infraction. He was ticketed and released.
