Four men in an SUV were arrested and four guns were seized by officers investigating a report of shots fired early Friday, Niagara Falls Police announced.
Witnesses reported they saw a red SUV with a loud muffler and no tail lights speed off after firing gunshots just before 2:30 a.m. in the 200 block of 30th Street, according to police.
While officers were investigating here, they heard two more shots, apparently from the 200 block of Hyde Park Boulevard, where a vehicle with a loud muffler sped away.
Police stopped a vehicle moments later and seized a pistol-grip shotgun and three long rifles, according to the report. An open bottle of Crown Royal Regal Apple Whisky also was found, police said.
Laurence Calkins III, the driver, was charged with driving while intoxicated and numerous traffic violations, including speeding and first-degree unlicensed operation.
Also arrested were passengers Isaiah Casanova, David Paretto Jr. and Christopher L. Hosey. They face charges that include second-degree reckless endangerment, third- and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle on a highway.
