Starting Monday, KeyBank will temporarily close 10 of its area branches.
The 10 are among 160 branches Key is temporarily shutting down nationally starting that day, as part of its efforts to contain the spread of Covid-19. The temporary closings represent 15% of all Key branches systemwide.
"The KeyBank branches affected will be closed until further notice as we continue to follow the advice of the CDC, state, and local authorities for best health practices in our branches and offices," said Matt Pitts, a Key spokesman.
Employees of the temporarily closed branches will be redeployed to nearby branches or to help with the bank's client contact center call volume, he said.
Like many banks, Key has already restricted public access to all of its branch lobbies to appointments only, while continuing to offer drive-thru window service at those locations.
