Teachers in Attica Central School District are planning a car parade throughout the district on Friday to boost the spirits of students and others at a time of isolation caused by Covid-19.
The slow-moving vehicular parade starts at 11:15 a.m., leaving Attica Central High School at 3338 East Main St., Attica. It will wind its way through the village, then to Varysburg, North Java, Sheldon, Cowlesville and Bennington.
"We're just trying to spread a little bit of Attica pride throughout the communities to lift up everybody's spirit," said John Dickhut, president of the Attica Faculty Association, which is organizing the event.
Teachers will be decorating their vehicles to create a festive atmosphere, he said.
Dickhut added that teachers will not be getting out of their vehicles to maintain social distancing.
"The parade is going to be a slow roll," he said.
