University Police on the University at Buffalo's North and South campuses, and at SUNY Buffalo State College, have adopted new protocols in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic that are aimed at stopping the spread of the virus.
University Police announced on its website that it has suspended noncriminal fingerprinting as a means to observe social distancing.
Also, most lost and found property collection has been suspended – except for high-value items, including passports and items valued over $500.
In addition, officers on the campuses will take some initial reports by phone. This will not apply to violent crimes or crimes in progress, according to University Police.
