Chautauqua County has its first two confirmed cases of Covid-19.
A woman in her 30s who lives in the Dunkirk area and a man in his 30s who lives in the Silver Creek area tested positive for Covid-19, Chautauqua County Executive Paul M. Wendel Jr. said Monday afternoon during a news conference streamed on the county's Facebook page.
Both county residents have been in precautionary quarantine and neither has required hospitalization to date, Wendel said.
Both will continue to be held in mandatory isolation and will remain home to recover, he said.
Both individuals have recently traveled to Buffalo.
Staff with the county Department of Health and Human Services has begun work to identify any close contacts either person has had. Those people will be contacted and placed under mandatory quarantine, Wendel said.
