Buffalo Mayor Byron W. Brown and some of the city's essential employees will be working from home and at City Hall intermittently due to the Covid-19 emergency.
Following Gov. Andrew Cuomo's order Friday for 100% of employees to work from home except for those delivering essential services, City Hall was closed until further notice to everyone except essential employees for activities that cannot be performed remotely.
Such employees have permission to work in the City Hall building for specific purposes during limited periods of time, while practicing safe social distancing, said city spokesman Michael J. DeGeorge.
"It's a fluid situation, but all essential employees who can work from home will be working from home," DeGeorge said.
Essential personnel needed in the field includes Buffalo Police and Fire as well as workers in the parks, streets and sanitation departments.
