Metro Bus and Rail will continue its regular schedule on weekdays for the foreseeable future, the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority said Friday.
Though reducing service to a weekend schedule had been considered earlier in the week because of Covid-19 concerns, NFTA spokeswoman Helen Tederous said requests from throughout the community will preserve full service on weekdays, despite a more than 50% reduction in bus and rail ridership over the past week.
“We got a lot of feedback from medical workers, people who work at grocery stores, and others thanking us" for retaining full service, she said. “We were starting to get requests from businesses and hard hit individuals who need the service. We want to be there for the community and help in any way we can.”
Regular weekend service is also expected to continue.
