Lancaster pedestrian seriously injured after being struck by vehicle

A 34-year-old Lancaster man was seriously injured after he was struck by a truck at about 6:15 a.m. Friday at the intersection of Central and Walden avenues in the town, according to Lancaster police.

The names of both the pedestrian and the driver were withheld by police as an investigation into the accident continued Friday.

Police said the truck was headed east on Walden Avenue when the pedestrian attempted to cross Walden Avenue and was struck.

The victim was transported by Lancaster Volunteer Ambulance to Erie County Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.

Police said the driver was not injured in the accident and has cooperated with investigators. Neither impairment nor speed appeared to play a role in the cause of the accident, police added.

Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to call Lt. Shaun DiMino of the Lancaster Accident Investigations Unit at 716-683-2800, Ext. 123.
