On Feb. 10, a Buffalo News reader lauds Donald Trump in her letter. “He runs this country as a business, how it should be run.” The rest of the letter is slander of Democrats.
Unfortunately for us, the citizens of the republic, she’s right. Trump has made our government his own corrupt business. He billets the Secret Service at Trump hotels for $620-a-night and charges us, the taxpayers.
Trump enterprises are profiting mightily from his presidency. His is an imperial presidency with disdain for law.
I believe we have an emoluments clause in the Constitution. Trump’s multiple violations, using the presidency for his personal financial gain, qualify as crimes.
Why can’t/don’t we employ the emoluments clause?
