A Jamestown man was found lying in the street next to his car after being repeatedly shot Saturday night. He is believed to be the victim of a drive-by shooting.
According to Jamestown police, the victim was believed to be driving on Hazzard Street near Newland Avenue at 10:43 p.m. when another car, possibly a dark-colored sedan, pulled alongside. A person in the second vehicle filed multiple gunshots into the victim's car and drove off.
The victim's vehicle then struck a car parked on Hazzard Street. Police recovered a loaded handgun from the car, which police believe belonged to the victim.
The injured man was taken to University of Pittsburgh Medical Center-Chautauqua, where he underwent emergency surgery, according to Capt. Robert Samuelson. He was then transferred to UPMC Hamot and listed in critical condition.
Police believe the incident is a targeted shooting and not a random act of violence. Anyone with information is asked to call 483-7137 or to leave anonymous tips at 483-8477 or via the 411 Tips app.
