Letter: Gerson’s piece rightly quizzes Christians who back Trump

I am writing to comment on Michael Gerson’s column of Dec. 29. In it he cites an editorial by Mark Galli in “Christianity Today.” Galli states that the president’s attempt to have a foreign entity intervene in our political process is both dangerous to our democracy and immoral.

President Trump’s response was swift and false. His evangelical supporters quickly rallied their support to him. They seem to have forgotten or choose to ignore his bad behavior and/or their own Christian morals. To quote the president “How sad!” Indeed!

I am reminded of a quote of Mahatma Gandhi, a Hindu. He said: “I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. They are so unlike Christ.”
