The Patriots would clinch the AFC East for the 11th consecutive season with a win in either of their final two games or with a Bills loss in Week 17.
That would tie the longest streak of division titles in the history of the four major professional sports in America and the Patriots are the only team in the league to win 10-plus games for 17 consecutive seasons. That’s a lot of winning, for sure.
Safe to say their “schemes” are continually under scrutiny and hard to keep up with.
Meanwhile, the Pats are 14-1 straight up in Game 15, but only 6-5 against the spread in division games. Plus, the Pats are is 7-0 straight up and 5-2 against the spread in their last seven regular season games on Saturdays, but the Bills counter at 6-1-1 against the spread in their last eight regular season away games on Saturdays.
Not all is well currently, though, as QB Tom Brady has recorded five successive game with a passer rating of less than 40, and remember he compiled a 21.1 rating in the first meeting this season at Buffalo. We realize Brady is 31-3 straight up against Buffalo, but there is no dismissing the fact that the Patriots are averaging 20 points per game in their last six.
The Bills have proved their mettle on the road where they stand 6-1 straight up and 6-0-1 against the spread, not to mention a 4-3 SU and 5-1-1 ATS as an underdog.
Expect a chess match with both highly ranked defenses challenging the offenses. And grab the 6.5 points while you’re at it.
Prediction: NEW ENGLAND over Buffalo by 1.
