Lane closures start Monday on John James Audubon Parkway

Lane closures are anticipated next week on the John James Audubon Parkway in Amherst as a bridge replacement project begins Dec. 2, according to the New York State Department of Transportation.

The lane closures are scheduled to occur between Lee Road and Sylvan Parkway. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction on the parkway to allow for the construction of temporary traffic crossovers. In several weeks, traffic on the parkway will be shifted onto the crossovers while work continues on replacing the bridges over Ellicott Creek.

The prospect of inclement weather could delay the project, officials warned.

Motorists are being advised to obey the posted speed limits within the work zone and allow for additional travel time to their destinations.
