Some of the best returning boys high school basketball talent from last season will be featured in the Third Annual Centercourt Classic on Feb. 7-8 at Williamsville North.
The lineup of six games over two days was announced on Wednesday. The schedule:
Feb. 7: Randolph vs. Iroquois 6 p.m.; Williamsville North vs. Jamestown 7:30 p.m.
Feb. 8: East vs. Nichols 1 p.m.; Middle College vs. Cardinal O’Hara, 2:45 p.m.; Health Sciences vs. Canisius, 4:30 p.m.; Lew-Port vs. St. Joe’s, 6:15 p.m.
Several Players of the Year, All-WNY and all-league performers in 2018-19 are schedule to play in the Classic such as:
Roddy Gayle of Lew-Port (Niagara Frontier League), Jamond Jones of Middle Early College (Yale Cup I), Tyler Hind of Randolph (CCAA East I), Dewayne Vass of Canisius, Aiden Horan of Nichols, Matt Matla and Trey Kleitz of Iroquois and Danny Carter and David Hughes of East.
Williamsville girls hockey now 4-0
In girls Federation hockey play, undefeated Williamsville won its fourth game Wednesday with an 8-0 victory over CASH (Clarence-Amherst-Sweet Home) at Northtown Center in Amherst.
Senior forward Emma Roland scored four goals and added an assist for the winners. Jenna Cavalieri had a pair of goals while sophomore Vanessa Willick had a goal and three assists. Ella Schau also scored for the winners. Senior goalie Mia Wendell made 17 saves for the shutout and assisted on a goal. Seventh-grader Avery Hall had 27 saves for CASH (1-2).
Natalie Davidson of HEWS (Hamburg-Eden-West Seneca) stood out in goal with 31 saves but her team fell, 2-1, to Monsignor Martin at the West Seneca Rink. Lara Beecher (Nardin) and freshman Isabella Fedele (Mount Mercy) scored for Monsignor Martin. Olivia Wade (Eden) scored short-handed for HEWS. Sophia Will (Nardin) had 11 saves for the winners.
