From 'Off the Wall' at the Carnegie Art Center to under the tree

The Carnegie Art Center in North Tonawanda holds its fifth annual "Art Off the Wall" art sale and fundraiser from 6 to 9 pm. Dec. 5. Guests will have a choice of dozens of 5-by-7-inch artworks to purchase, each for $20, with all proceeds going to the center. Works include sketches, watercolors, oils, collages and other media, all donated by local artists.

All the pieces are displayed anonymously, so buyers don't know until after their purchase if they are taking home work by a talented college student, a rising newcomer like Mary Kunz Goldman or established artists, like Charles Clough, Peter Fowler or Ani Hoover. Purchases are taken home the night of the event, with framing available on-site.

The event takes place at the center, in the former North Tonawanda public library at 240 Goundry St. Previews of the art are from 6 to 6:45 p.m.; selling starts at 7 p.m. Admission is $15 and includes a drink and hors d'oeuvres. Serious art lovers also can go online to buy a $20 Fastpass, which reserves one of the first 50 purchasing forms. Go to
